Swa Vivekananda, Swami Saradananda, Swami Turiyananda, and Swami Akhandananda – the direct disciples of Bhagwan Sri Ramakrishna, traveled through the city of Dehradun during their journey to the upper Himalayas.
Swami Turiyananda practiced severe spiritual disciplines at Bauri Shiva Mandir, Kishanpur. During the second visit of Swami Vivekananda in November 1897, he noticed the plight of the people of this part of the Himalayas and planned to set up an orphanage.
The Ashrama is situated amidst the luscious green and the picturesque surroundings at the foothills of The Himalayas. The ashrama furnishes an atmosphere for personal contemplation and inner development.
