Goushala

Our Goushala (cow shelter) is dedicated to the care and protection of cows, in keeping with the ideals of compassion and service taught by Sri Ramakrishna.

We provide our cows with:

  • Clean shelter and nutritious fodder

  • Regular veterinary care for their health and well-being

  • A safe and loving environment where they can live peacefully

The Goushala not only sustains the Ashrama’s dairy needs—offering fresh milk for daily puja, prasadam, and the monastic community—but also serves as a model for ethical and sustainable animal care.

Old Shrine Room

The Old Shrine Room of the Ashrama holds a special place in the hearts of monks, devotees, and visitors. It is here that the early worship and spiritual activities of the Ashrama took place, filling the space with decades of prayers, meditation, and devotional singing. Even today, the Old Shrine stands as a symbol of the Ashrama’s spiritual heritage — a quiet sanctuary where one can feel the deep vibrations of devotion. The gentle fragrance of incense, the glow of the lamp, and the serene atmosphere make it an ideal place for silent prayer and reflection. Apart from its sacred history, the Old Shrine also serves as the present location of the Ashrama Library, continuing the tradition of fostering both spiritual illumination and intellectual growth.

Ashrama Library

The Ashrama houses a well-equipped library, situated in the Old Shrine Room, serving monks, devotees, and youth visitors alike. This serene space offers an ideal environment for reading, study, and reflection.

Our collection is both rich and diverse, comprising 17,830 books covering a wide range of subjects — Religion, Philosophy, and the complete Ramakrishna–Vivekananda–Vedanta literature — as well as works on world religions, history, culture, and personal development.

Sarada Seva Sangha

On the occasion of the 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Holy Mother, a large number of local woman devotees formed a ‘Sangha’ named as ‘Sarada Seva Sangha’. The members of the Sangha meet on the 2th and 4th Saturday of every month in the Old Shrine and perform Bhajans followed by reading from the Life and Teachings of Holy Mother.

The Sangha were established by some serious devotees in small scale which culminated with present membership of 25 women. Besides meeting regularly twice a month for spiritual discussions and discourses, retreats were organized on special occasions. The Sangha also published wall magazines with contribution from the members twice a year. Members of Sangha also actively participated and helped in Mission activities like, teaching in Gadhadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa and identifying and distributing medicines, nutrients, vitamins and food supplements etc. to poor and needy pregnant ladies, nursing mothers and their children living under poverty line.
